Even though you’re great at doing your own makeup, a MUA can do it so much better. I mean, after all, that is their job. We especially recommend hiring a good MUA if you don’t normally do your own makeup. They know what will look good on you and can make it look natural and flawless.
Makeup artists use high-grade makeup – nothing runs, shines, or smudges, ensuring that you don’t have any makeup malfunctions during your big day. They also know what works well with the flash, the lighting at different times of the day, etc.
On your wedding day, you’re going to be moving around all day and you want your makeup to last. You’ll need to be wearing about 30% more makeup than normal. It may seem like a lot in real life, because you’re not used to it, but it won’t look like a lot on camera. Makeup artists know exactly how much to put on.
A MUA knows how to accentuate your features to make sure you look your best for portraits and close ups. They know that cameras alter lighting and colors and how to avoid common makeup issues with photography. Some everyday makeups can make you look oily or shiny on camera – MUAs make sure the makeup they use will photograph perfectly. Also, on your wedding day, you’ll be wearing a lot of white. You don’t want to look washed out in your photos and a MUA knows how to make sure that doesn’t happen.
And lastly, they know your schedule and can help keep you on track by making sure to have you ready in time.

When Ryan first started his business in 2007 he was doing the same exact thing as everyone else in the market and as a result was not being hired. He was not getting hired because his work looked like pretty much everyone else and his pricing was significantly higher. How could Ryan gain the clientele he was looking for and at the same time maintain his pricing which was a better overall value than his competition? Well, he first began to attend workshops from around the country and was taught techniques that are still to this day not practiced in the local area. Secondly, he would offer unique products that would completely separate Gonzales Photography from the rest of the crowd. These products would be extremely high end and made in Milan, Italy! To this day all of Gonzales Photography's wedding albums are printed and bound in Italy. Not only would his albums be unique but the way he printed his images for his clients would become fairly unique. Ryan creates imagery that is not only artistic and very creative but memorable which will continue to be valued throughout generations.
As the years would pass Ryan would continue to attend workshops from all around the country and continue learning from some of the top leaders in the photographic industry. Photographers like Doug Gordon, Sal Cincotta, Dave Junion, Mike Rindinger, Damon Tucci as well as countless others. Ryan would learn important business techniques that would eventually factor into the way Gonzales Photography operated. He would also learn how to bring the most value to the client without overwhelming them by only creating 3 pre-wedding, engagement and post wedding collections. Ryan would learn how to shoot big for beautiful, artstic and one of a kind images that his clients would be proud to display on their walls in either canvas, acrylic or professionally framed prints. His clients would make sure to show their friends and family the wedding album and explain how important it is to have this very first heirloom going forward into their lives.
In 2014 Ryan Gonzales would take the Certified Professional Photographers Prep Class and that same week take the extremely technical and in depth written exam. He would pass it with a 96 percent and would then submit his image portfolio to Masters of Photography, Photographic Craftsman and other CPP's for judging. His portfolio would pass and he would then receive the title of Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) but that was not enough for Ryan. Ryan would also become the liaison for the entire State of New Mexico but also help El Paso, TX until the day they would have their own liaison. Ryan would become a mentor for up and coming photographers who really wanted to learn the actual art of photography not just taking snap shots. In 2015 he would host his very first workshop teaching other area photographers in the Albuquerque and Las Cruces markets how to take proper images using the laws of exposure and composition. The workshops would continue throughout 2015 and 2016 teaching everything from the basics all of the way through to complex technical lighting techniques.
Ryan has had his images published in magazines such as Shuttermag and Professional Photographer to name a few. He would also garner an award winning image titled "Someones going to get it!" This image was inspired by the snipers of the Army Rangers from Fort Bliss located in El Paso, TX. This would be the beginning to a very rewarding career as a CPP and educator.
To this date Ryan has photographed just shy of 100 weddings in the short time he has been in business and approximately 200 high school seniors. If you are looking for a great value, a professional photographer who not only knows what he's doing but can create one of a kind images for your wedding or engagement. My name is Ryan Gonzales and I am a certified professional photographer (CPP) based out of Albuquerque, NM. I began photographing weddings, quinceanera's and sweet 16's in 2007, this is when I began my journey into this art form. When I first started I had a solid foundation of what the actual and true art of photography was all about. I attended workshops from around the country as well as viewed many videos of professional photographers that taught techniques such as, lighting, posing, selling and marketing the business of photography to their clients. When you first begin future clients know very little to about you much less the quality of your photography!
So as a client once told me, why should I hire you when there are other photographers that will do it cheaper?
I told her this exact statement "You should hire me based on the fact that I run a legitimate business with a business license and a federal tax ID." Most of the photographers she was looking at did not have a registered business. I also asked her to tell me why they would want to hire a professional photographer over a family friend or a family member with a camera. She stated "I want to hire someone that knows what they are doing and will provide me with a good overall experience because I am only getting married once and I don't need to be worrying if they got specific key pictures!" I then began to explain to her that by hiring a certified professional photographer she was going to get everything that she is wanting and more. She then asked what should I look for because I do want to shop around a little before hiring someone and giving them our hard earned money? And this is where this blog post is going to benefit not only my perspective clients but everyone in this industry photographing weddings and very special events.
1.) Google them and see if they have any reviews on Google, their website or other websites they might be on like www.mywedding.com
2.) Look at their online portfolio to see if their style fits what you are looking for in your pictures.
3.) Look at their FAQ's section to see if they are answering any questions that you might have. Someone with an FAQ section probably has a lot of experience with questions that have been asked throughout their career.
4.) If they fit what your looking for initially, schedule a consultation so that you can actually talk to the photographer and look at albums that will give you a good idea of whether they are consistent throughout the day or if they just got lucky with a few images they put on their website.
5.) Ask the photographer your interested in to see any and all albums they have on hand.
6.) Ask them if they have any certificates or how they were educated in photography. What kind of education do they have in photography. Did they attend a college, art school, learned by reading, attended workshops from well known photographers who educate others.
7.) What types of collections do they have or if they offer a digital delivery and how are they delivering digital images.
8.) How much experience do they have photographing weddings.
9.) Do they have liability insurance just in case something happens.
10.) Do they have a retainer/ deposit and how much is it.
11.) What happens in the case that the photographer gets sick or cannot photograph the wedding.
12.) Do they have a contract, if not please respectfully get up and RUN....
If this all sounds good to you I wish you luck in finding the right photographer for you. Remember this is a day that has no redo's, they either get it or they don't! Trust only a Certified Professional Photographer to capture those memories of your BIG DAY.
The dress will be boxed up, the tuxedo's will be returned, the cake will get eaten, the bouquet will be tossed, your guests will go home and you will only have your album or pictures to look back on such a wonderful and emotional day.
Please consider Gonzales Photography Inc. for your Professional Photography....
As some of you may know there are several photographers in the Albuquerque area to choose from. Photography has been and will always be a profession that is artistic, beautiful, creative and memorable. At Gonzales Photography we strive to provide our clients with the very best in art, beauty (flattery), creativity and most important memorable imagery that you will cherish for a lifetime through many generations.
I would like to dissect some of these items one by one with our definition of each beginning with artistic.
Artistic: Art is very subjective because what one sees as artistic another may not. Art in the eyes of Ryan Gonzales CPP owner and lead photographer at Gonzales Photography Inc. see's the inclusion of an architectural building to frame his subjects and make it a grand landscape that not only tells a story but also adds dimension, texture and depth. This could be a grassy location with statues, a building that contains modern, traditional or vintage styling or a location with graffiti which would add color and mood to the image.
Beauty: This is also subjective because how one see's another person may be different. By beauty we mean the way a subject is posed, the lighting pattern used to flatter that persons type of facial structure, the angle that our subject is photographed and the way we make the person feel during the taking of the image. It's just making your subject feel confident and beautiful.
Creativity: This is just how Ryan CPP sees images in his head prior to taking them. He is always thinking creatively to provide his clients with one of a kind imagery. This is something that he does not take lightly because he feels that his creativity is what separates Gonzales Photography from the rest of the photographers in New Mexico. If the client wants a certain location but it is one he has photographed before he will analyze that location and be sure that the image he creates for his client does not look like one he has photographed for the client before. He will change the angle, the viewpoint or the composition to make each and every image look different but showcase the location which was a reason the client chose it to begin with.
Memorable: Creating lasting memories is why Ryan does what he does. When the day is over or the event we all want something that we can remember it by! Ryan wants to create images that will last the tests of time and by doing this he is always thinking about what the client and the client's family members or friends will help them to remember that special moment in time that photography allows us to freeze. By creating lasting memories we are able to relive those special times in someones life by remembering the fun, laughs, tears, happiness, sadness or excitement that was shared on that day. Remember at the end of the wedding, quinceanera, sweet 16 or high school senior year you will only have one thing to look back on and that is your images that were captured.
Why choose Ryan Gonzales CPP to be your photographer?
Ryan does not claim to know it all or is perfect at what he does but he does strive to be better than the day before. At Gonzales Photography, Ryan is always wanting to provide his clients with the best overall experience and the best products. Ryan chooses to use high quality albums only offered by GraphiStudio from Milan, Italy. Even though they are Italian made albums Ryan wants to give his clients the best overall value so these albums don't cost the client an excessive amount he includes them in the All Inclusive Collections as a value added product. He also wants to provide his client with the most state of the art way to deliver digital files which are also part of the mid level collections and his first every All Digital Collections.
As 1 of only 11 fully certified professional photographers in New Mexico he offers the very best in consistency throughout the day, experience, professionalism, courtesy, respect and overall service.
Gonzales Photography also only uses the best second photographers in the market. Ryan will always try to hire a Certified Professional Photographer to be his second photographer but when that is not possible because she might be booked already he will search the New Mexico and Texas area for the best overall photographer to provide his client with a different perspective that what he sees.
Gonzales Photography Inc. and Ryan Gonzales CPP has you covered with the very best that New Mexico and the United States has to offer to all newly engaged or wedding couples. Ryan has his passport ready and is willing to travel anywhere in the world for his clients in Albuquerque, New Mexico or anywhere in the world.
